Notes	Printed on recto: "The original from which this photograph was made, was taken in 1866 by Richard Sam[m]is a few months before Chief Seattle's death, at the instigation of C.B. Bagley. About 1907 it was enlarged and retouched by James A. When (a drape and a grecian urn were eliminated from the background and a cane removed from the Chief's hands.)" Handwritten on recto: "E.M. Sammis acc. to article in Seattle Sun, March 1, 1978."
Measurements	13.92 x 24.52 cm
Digitization specifications	Master images scanned on Epson 10000 XL flatbed at 600 ppi, 24 bit color, and saved as TIFF files. Adobe Photoshop used to resize images to 300 ppi and convert to JPEG format. Master file size: 57,144,744 bytes.
