Description	Walkway between Opera House and Seattle Center Parking Facility, Century 21 Exposition (Seattle World's Fair). On the Opera House, designed by Schack, Young & Myers and remodeled by Priteca & Chiarelli: “The brand-new Opera House (225 Mercer Street) had been constructed within the shell of Seattle's old Civic Auditorium -- which New York Times critic Harold C. Schonberg described as a ‘6,000 seat, flat-floored, unpleasant’ space that had ‘held just about everything but bullfights.’ Now the hall was the 3,100 seat pride of the town's arts establishment.” (Peter Blecha, “Century 21 Exposition (1962): Performing Arts at the Fair.” HistoryLink.org, http://historylink.org/index.cfm?DisplayPage=output.cfm&file_id=9371. On the Parking Facility, designed by Kirk, Wallace, McKinley & Associates: “Self-parking for 1,500 automobiles is available in the reinforced concrete structure, two blocks long and one block wide. The layout calls for one-way traffic throughout the garage, with angle parking on 60-ft. ramps and level areas by the use of four interlocked helices, two spirals up and two down…Total construction cost including fees, taxes, pedestrian bridge, etc., will amount to $1,070 per car as compared with the national average in excess of $1,500.” (An Architect’s Guidebook to the Seattle World’s Fair.
