UJflnTED: 5,000 "friendly Seattleites"
During the "Fair", Mr. & Mrs. Seattle will host visitors from around the world; and the true success of the Fair
will depend upon the kind of job they do as host and hostess. You can help present a friendly, hospitable
Seattle. HERE'S HOW . . .
'WELCOME TO SEATTLE
I AM A FRIENDLY SEATTLEITE
ASK ME QUESTIONS"
The bewildered visitor will feel right at home when he reads the badge you wear. And you will be ready to answer
his questions. As a "Friendly Seattleite", you will have received a free copy of "This is Seattle", a comprehensive guide book (with maps) to the city. When on the job, shopping, or on a special trip; carry the pocket
size guide book, wear your badge, and answer visitors questions.
Becoming a "Friendly Seattleite" just couldn't be simpler. All you need to do is attend a very brief meeting and
receive your free guide book, badge, and instructions. If you cannot attend a meeting, send 10$ (to cover mailing
costs) to: Roland Sayler, Smith Tower, Seattle; and your book, badge, and instructions will be mailed to you.
"Friendly Seattleite" Meetings: 8:00 P.M., Monday evenings, Feb. 12th, March 12th, and April 9th, at the Tyee
Yacht Club Auditorium, 3229 Fairview No. (one block West of Eastlake No. at south end of Roosevelt/University
Bridge), on Lake Union.
"This year 1962 -the need for all Seattleites to support
this concept of "The Friendly City" — is vital. I hope the
idea becomes converted into action and that all citizens of
Seattle will volunteer their services for this purpose."
Joseph E. Gandy
President, Seattle World's Fair
"You can help our city confirm its long tradition of hospitality by becoming a "Friendly Seattleite" during our World's
Fair. Thousands of visitors will be asking questions about
Seattle. Our attitudes and responses will determine our
city s reputation for years to come."
Gordon S. Clinton
Mayor of Seattle
Roland Sayler
General Chairman
