PACIFIC SCIENCE CENTER CELEBRATES DECENNIAL!
It's cake and candles time at the Pacific Science Center! On
Sunday, October 22, the Science Center marks its 10th anniversary, and
this very important and proud occasion will be celebrated in style with
three full days of special activities, October 23,24, and 25*
On Monday, October 23, Pacific Science Center Foundation Members
and Board of Trustees will conduct their Annual Meeting at 11:00 A.M.
Following this, the official Decennial Celebration will commence with
a Special Recognition Luncheon, where tribute will be paid to the H01d
Guard" -- those persons who have made significant contributions to the
Science Center's development in its first decade. Among the special
guests highlighting this happy affair will be Senator Warren G. Magnuson,
a Science Center Trustee since its inception, Mr. Edward E. Carlson,
first president of the Foundation and currently Honorary Chairman of
the Board, and Dr. Dixy Lee*Ray, Science Center Director from 1963 to
June, 1972.
This Special Recognition Luncheon will be held in the Eames
Theater, where a memorial History Wall is being erected for the
Decennial Celebration, giving a year by year account of the Science
Center's growth and outstanding achievements.
While the Eames Theater will be the Decennial's "Memory Lane",
other exhibit areas will celebrate this birthday with eyes on the future.
