1* Background of activities:
Nine meetings were held by this Division which shall be hereinafter referred to as the lfCommittee110 The meetings were exceptionally well attended
and appreciation is extended to the members for their cooperation,. In order to
operate more efficiently, subcommittees were appointed for specific duties as
follows:
a* Spatial requirements and evaluation of required facilities*
Clayton Young, Chairman, John Ritter, Gayne Jones*
Duties: To conduct a survey to determine the community needs insofar as
cultural, conventional and recreational facilities appear.
be Sports center study*
Guy Stevens, John M@ Morse*
Duties: To investigate, evaluate and report back on an expansion of the
present sports center area comprising the Civic Auditorium, Ice Arena, Armory,
Memorial Stadium and parking facilities*
The Committee has been assisted in its endeavor by meetings with Paul Thiry,
F.A.LA* member, Seattle City Planning Commission, Perry B0 Johanson, A,I,A0,
member^ King County Planning Commission, and John Spaeth, Director of Planning^
City of Seattle. The advice and counsel of these men has been of great assistance
to the Committee in reaching the conclusions and recommendations herein reported*

The Committee of the whole met at the home of the chairman, Feb* 6,
1955 to arrive at conclusions insofar as site recommendation was concerned*
